On Saturday MAHT members has a fun time despite the rain talking to attendees at Wake Up the Earth about the work we do. We had 2 petitions for people to sign, one to support the Forbes Building a former 13A building in Jamaica Plain where the tenants have been working to keep the building affordable. A steering committee of tenants have been meeting since 2018 and are trying to get the owner to sign a contract for vouchers to help aid in keeping the building affordable. We continue to be grateful for the Jamaica Plain community's continued support.

The other petition was to increase the City Rent Subsidy Program by $4 million. This is a program for the city of Boston adopted in 2019 to use city funds for affordable housing. Since this is a city program and not federal it is more flexible so more people are eligible. MAHT, along with other members of the coalition have been working with the Boston Housing Authority to market the program to developers. Members of the Boston city council have been supportive of increasing the program over the years.
