On March 11, MAHT Director Michael Kane testified before the Boston City Council to propose dedicating an additional $3 million per year to the City Rent Subsidies Program. In his testimony, he emphasized the growing need for rental assistance among priority groups in Boston: at the current rate, 21,000 low-income people need the subsidy to remain in the city between now and 2030. Additionally, he asked that the city reduce wasteful spending from the Boston Police Department to help fund these changes.
